Taylor's 1st Visit Back to the House
Report by: Debra Pickman
After much discussion over Taylor’s desire to go to the house and his being safe there, the three of us went over to meet up with Jerry and Jennifer who had just arrived in town.
We helped bring in Jerry’s equipment, as mine would return with me later. On the dinning room table lay a pen and one of the guests books we had bought and left back in March. We thought the books would be an interesting way for visitors to share feeling and such with others.
So we signed the group into the guest book began our usual walk through of the house noting any changes and/or placement of certain items since the last time we had entered the home, as often what has been left by previous groups is utilized in the next groups experiments in hopes to get some sort of paranormal activity.
I’m sure this is a great deal for some groups as they are able to see what others have used/tried and perhaps it gets them thinking on how they can work additional experiments with the items being left in the home.
For instance, the ping pong balls were used and then left as toys for the children. On almost every investigation Tony and I have participated in, they have been used in some capacity; they are light, easy to move and brightly colored.
Another item that has often been used is the mirrors. One group bought them for R& D experiments and left them behind because they didn’t have the room to travel back home with them. They have since been used in many ways. KPG used them to expand the cameras eye. By strategically placing them, the reflections enabled the cameras to see more area that would have been out of the cameras viewpoint.
The dolls are often used to entice Sally herself into interact with investigators and of course there are a multitude of other toys that remain on each of the upstairs window sills and I am sure most of them have been used during investigation.
I also believe that some groups leave these things behind because they don’t want to carry anything home that has touched the negativity in the home. They don’t want to take the chance that something has attached itself to an item they will later use at home or on other investigations (as this could actually taint the evidence on the next investigation)
After the walk through, we again found ourselves in the dinning room which often served as our base point due to the available table. As Jennifer and I stood there talking she asked for a pen, to which I refer her to the one that was available on the table when we arrived.
The table, at this point, had been covered by partially unpacked research files and various pieces of equipment and cables strewn on its surface. We actually had to search a minute or two for the pen. I forget who actually found it, but when they picked it up it was somewhat unrecognizable from the one we had used only 15-20 minutes earlier.
The pen was melted significantly and bubble all along one side of the cylindrical barrel. Indentations into this bubbled area would lead one to believe that human fingers held the pen when it was melting. This was seen on an item in the house one other time. While we lived in the house, there was a candle in a wall sconce that was burned the same way. There was another instance that should be noted here, and also while we lived in the house. Tony had been laying in bed (not to long after we realized we had a haunted house) and had a dream that he was being pulled out of bed. When he woke the next morning, he had individual burns that had welted up on his wrist, again reminiscent of a little hand and fingers grabbing his wrist (sorry, we have no photos of this because it happened before we realized the significance of taking photos of the strange happenings in the house).
Tony and I left after some group discussion of who could have been responsible for melting the pen, and it was determined that none of us had been left in the room alone or long enough to melt the item is this manner. Hence, our conclusion that the spirit(s) in the house were very excited that were there.
Shortly after the excitement and discussion Tony and I left. Our children had undoubtedly arrived home from school and wondered where we were. Although I had planned to return after the dinner hour, Tony had opted to bow out of this investigation. Tony had grown bored of the hours and hours of sitting and doing nothing during these investigations and often asked me how I continued to do it.
The fact of the matter was that in just “sitting” around we were always discussing something. Sometimes it was our own personal lives, other times the focus was the house or specific individuals or information we discovered. One of the ways we learned to get EVP, was to grossly misquote a date, name or other reference, often this would bring about a remark from the spiritual peanut gallery. I suppose, they, like many of us, found it hard to just sit by while someone told lies, or gave incorrect information.
Other times we experimented with new aspects of trying to pull out communication from the spirits of the house. St. Patrick’s Day weekend, whereas Tony saw us plugging in a pot of cabbage balls, playing old Irish music and settling down for an 30 hour social event, we were trying to entice the Irish spirits to feel comfortable and respected. In celebrating their holiday with such style, we hoped that they would feel more relaxed amongst us.
So although it often seemed that we were not doing anything but sitting, it was all experimentally based and increasing the groups chances for EVP, communication and interaction.
Once we got home, Tony and I discussed the possibilities and ramifications of allowing Taylor to go to the house for part of the investigation. Visiting for a half hour was one thing, but there were more concerns brought up during an investigation. In the end, and with a bit of reserve, Tony gave his consent for a few hours. Taylor was ecstatic
