Sightings Second Visit
(continued - page 2)
Report by: Debra Pickman

When Al arrived he seemed a bit stiff and put off and at the time we didn’t understand why. When listening to our experiences and examining the items involved in the strange phenomena we had witnessed, he seemed almost rude in his reactions and suggestions. I certainly didn’t mind skeptical questions, but the wording of them and his insinuations through his facial expressions were borderline disrespectful.

Although he did pull out his monitoring equipment, he said he “saw, felt, heard, and sensed nothing indicating a haunted house”. I think his objectiveness was over shadowed by his negative feelings of how he was brought in and allowed to work (or not work) by the television show.

Strangely enough, during the time Al was at the house, Tim White, Greg Cooke, and several others felt a slight cold draft coming from the area of the East Dining room window which was seemingly unexplainable. True, there had been an air conditioner in that window, and it was about 90 degrees outside, but the air conditioner had been turned off, hours earlier, for sound purposes.

This cold draft was repeatedly felt in different areas of the house during the investigation and felt by many if not all the individuals who were there. Although perplexed by the experience, and calling it “intriguing”, Tim White voiced the fact that, in his mind and in and of itself, it wasn’t enough to make the determination that the house was haunted.

During the investigation, there were also several moments where individuals felt an electrical charge of energy as well. Several of the instances of cold spots and the feeling of these electrical charges, were followed by scratches appearing somewhere on Tony. This was exhibited in simple scratches as well as letters forming on his forehead. At one time, new welts formed on his stomach and 6-8 inch scratches appearing on his left arm.

Tony reported that although the experiences sometimes seemed to take his breath away, he often had no idea that they were occurring until someone pointed them out to him.

This was also the first time Tony voiced the fact that he was scared. He was worried about the scratches and the fires and although there seemed to be a limit to that physical things that were occurring, he wondered what could or would be next.

Before Al left the location, he was interviewed in the back yard of the house. He reported that everything he witnessed could be explained through psychokinesis. He did not go further into this during the interview, but approached Tony and I individually throughout the day.

His interview went on to say that there was obviously an intense fear from Tony. Which he then eluded to the idea that this fear could produce energy, and that this energy was likely producing the strange phenomena.

Al also mentioned a possibility that there was still a ghost in the house because, as he stated, both phenomena used the same type of energy. His suggestion was that we continue to document the experiences, and get rid of the toys of which we had been leaving for Sallie. The fact was, and I’m not sure he was aware of it, that we had left the toys hoping for an exchange of the undesirable activity of waking the baby and messing with our personal belongings which had become increasingly disruptive; especially to the baby.

As stated above, Al had pulled Tony aside to tell him he felt the activity was a result of an emotion or traumatic event in my childhood. Likewise, he pulled me aside and told me the same about Tony. I can remember after he and the crew left, talking the day over with Tony and realizing he all but blamed each of us for the problems we were having. I can remember taking great offense that he would say this to each of us, and ultimately pit each of us against the other.

We received a letter from him about a week later, which put us even further on the defensive, as he explained his disposition with the television show, and how he felt that he had been treated unfairly. He gruffly claimed that he had not been paid for his time or expenses, and that he had great troubles getting home. None of which was not in our power to change or rectify, but it made us feel guilty that he had been brought in to help us.

At the writing of this (Feb. 19th, 2007), and looking back on this situation, I give Al much more credit than I had done back then. Although the manner in which he came into our home and reacted to us and our experiences ultimately set the tone for the way Tony and I reacted to him, we now see that some of what he said made a lot of sense.

Had Al been given the opportunity to investigate the way he felt was warranted, and in the manner of which a good investigator should be able to, I believe he may have actually come to an understanding about this case, during his short encounter with it, that has taken us many years to do. Had he been allowed to do “his” investigation, before giving his evaluation, he may have been able to make even a better assessment of our situation, ultimately giving us the help we were so desperately searching for.

I have to say that back in 1994, we had no idea what we were dealing with. I don’t think there were many who believed or understood the theories behind EVP, and we had no idea of what to look for in a reputable investigator. Times have certainly changed for us as we have learned much over the years!
