July 9, 2005 Meeting Kansas Paranormal Group for the 1st Time

Meeting Kansas Paranormal for the First Time

Report by: Debra Pickman

I received a few letters from Jerry Talbert, dated Feburary 17th and earlier and concerning the Sallie house, and his feelings on our experiences there. He included a DVD of few televised shows that he thought had bearing on the events and gave credence to his assessment.

I didn’t agree with much of what he said, and found his letter intrusive, to say the least. I wrote a lengthy letter back to him, detailed why I disagreed with him and noted a few particulars he may have missed when making his evaluation. I ended the letter requesting that he refrain from contacting us again.

Knowing that his group was going to be investigating at the house other weekend of the I decided that maybe I should go over and introduce myself. I drove past the house several times, feeling uncomfortable about just popping in though. I didn’t want to intrude uninvited, and I didn’t want to disrupt their investigation. Some investigators are very particular about things like that. Furthermore, I didn’t know these people, and was unsure of what their goals were when it came to involving themselves with this case.

I always worry about involving Tony or myself with groups we don’t know very well. We have visited with several and have divulged particulars thinking our privacy would be respected. This has not always been the case. Some individuals are simply in it for the glorification they can get being involved with us. Some feel that they can make money off their involvement with the case. Others, simply want to exploit it for their own gain. Due to these prior experiences, we never know how much we can trust someone and tend to be a bit gun-shy and cautious.

I did finally did decide to stop in, because at one time, they had mentioned a desire to meet Tony and I. I parked my vehicle and slowly walked up to the house.

I introduced myself, and although I knew Jerry was totally surprise, I was graciously welcomed to join them. I can remember Renae coming out of the kitchen as I stood in the living room, and the surprised look on her face. I was the last person she expected to see, especially after the last letter I had written to Jerry.

We talked about many things to include some of our experiences, Jerry’s and my letters back and forth, and what some of their research and investigations had revealed. I was just certain that we would butt heads on many topics, but amazingly enough, we did not. In my head, and from reading Renae’s posts on several websites, I had envisioned them as being different than they were. The fact is, that I found them to be very nice. They were welcoming, down to earth, and very interested in what I had to offer. I was amazed at how comfortable I felt during my visit with them. I must have been, because I had only planned to stay for about twenty minutes or so, and ended up staying almost two hours.
