About the KPG
In 2000, Jerry and Renae both discovered a website called Ghoststudy. This site had a section that allowed people with the same interest to find others who might live close that might also be interested in further study of the paranormal. Jerry and Renae first contacted each other that same year and went to a couple of locations then would just write emails and show each other anything that might be of interest.
The first time we were all together was on our first visit to the Sallie house. One of our biggest questions about the house was how accurate the stories were that circulated concerning this haunting. Had the Sightings show really tried to find answers or were they just hoping to capitalize on the story? Really how much real research could a team from the Sightings show get done in a few short days of looking through the books? From the beginning of our research we wondered where any of their information came from.
We started throwing the idea of naming a group around and in time adopted the name of Kansas Paranormal Group, (KPG). The main focus for KPG the last two years has been the Sallie house in Atchison but we won't pass up a good investigation. We hope that there will be more groups out there that will concentrate longer and deeper into the more haunted locations such as we did.
Our group wanted to find out what this haunting was really about. Jerry was adamant this had to be a demonic haunting. Jennifer and Renae both thought there were other very probable explanations for this haunting. In the beginning, we never thought we would ever be able to agree between the members of our group as we all had different ideas to what was happening.
When we heard bits of information about the family that lived there, we started to wonder if they had any kind of satisfactory explanation for what had happened to them while living in this house. What were the Pickman's lives like now? Had the Sightings show been involved long enough to give them any answers? If their problems had continued would word have gotten out or would they just be living in fear?
Unlimited by time or distance the KPG would at least satisfy the curiosity of its members. At the very least we would have a good opportunity to perfect some of the problems we had getting EVP. Knowing about some of the pictures we knew the family had taken, we thought there was a chance to get a few unexplainable pictures of our own.
At the time KPG started seriously investigating this house, Jerry owned his own video production company. Renae has a background in electronics and Jennifer has been involved with genealogy and keeping track of records and information.
Looking back at how we all came together, our diversified backgrounds and opposing ideas, might be the reason we have been so successful with our quest for answers to this haunting.
